This subject furthers knowledge of contemporary and emerging models of studio practice, including investigating perspectives on visual culture and the role of the designer as enabler of cultural representation.
Year 2
XID23 - Introduction to Design Research
This subject expands the student’s knowledge of the research processes that inform emerging design practice and how this affects the designer/client/project relationship.
CDR23 - Design Research & Ideas Generation
This subject develops students’ knowledge and experience of the relationship between a design research strategy and the generation of ideas in response to this research.
CIR23 - Interface, Representation & Sequence
This subject develops the students’ experience and understanding of the issues, methods and technologies specific to the multimedia environment, and explores visual representation in screen-based formats.
CDU23 - Design Usability & the Community
This subject develops knowledge in the integration of emerging models of design studio practice with perspectives on usability, sustainability and community based design thinking through critically analysing social and political issues that impact the designer’s role.
CAD24 - Advanced Design Research
This subject aims to develop the knowledge and skills that will bridge the gap between research results and the application of those results to visual communication outcomes.
CNM24 - New Media: Interactive Spaces
This subject advances knowledge of interface design through the exploration of new media – interactive design, installation design and other methods of contemporary information design and presentation.
CAM24 - Advanced Media Integration
This subject brings together typography, image in print and the integrated application of moving image and sound in a design program, by exploring technologies that can combine these elements successfully for future production.
CVC24 - Visual Communication Design
This subject brings together the knowledge, concepts and skills required for the design process from research to final production and presentation, through the production of a major design project.
