Jenny Jenkins - Head of School

Hospitality has been a lifelong journey for Jenny Jenkins. Educated in Catering and Hotelkeeping at Napier University in Edinburgh, she then travelled overland to New Zealand from Scotland and settled there. New Zealand presented many opportunities for entrepreneurial ventures including restaurants, wine bars and boutique resorts. Her vast knowledge of the sector and her passion for superior customer service in a hospitality environment led her into education. Her vision was to inspire people to embark on a career in hospitality through formal training.

More recently, since completing an MBA through Massey University, Jenny has held senior management positions in a number of vocational and higher education institutions in New Zealand in the area of hospitality, tourism and management. These positions have included Head of Faculty, Business, Tourism and the Arts at Southern Institute of Technology, Head of School of Management at the Open Polytechnic, and Campus Principal for UCOL Wairarapa Campus.

Roles have included the introduction of competency based assessment, developing a Bachelor of Hotel Management in partnership with an Australian University and more recently, securing an international educational partner for a multi-million Major Regional Initiative for the Wairarapa in the area of food and wine.

Involvement in this recent project inspired Jenny to secure a position overseas to increase her knowledge of the international educational sector. She has recently joined William Blue as Head of the Hospitality and Tourism College.

I am looking forward to being part of an extremely competent team that will realise this vision for the benefit of our students, the organisation, industry and the Australian economy.”
