Awards

In addition to the awarding and conferment of formal academic qualifications, students may aspire to be the recipient of a variety of additional awards each year.

Currently we have 5 Industry Awards that celebrate academic achievement, attendance, professional conduct and professional judgement in the areas of:

• Rooms Division – Sponsored by TOGA, a valuable industry partner
• Finance
• Marketing and Communication
• Human Resources
• Food and Beverage – Sponsored by TOGA, a valuable industry partner

In addition, the Aaron Kaplan S-M-I-L-E Award celebrates passion, involvement, personality, awareness, professional conduct and a cheerful disposition. It will be awarded for the first time this year t honour Aaron Kaplan, the founder of William Blue College of Hospitality and Tourism, whose dedication to the industry and education, as well as his firm belief in the importance of a smile underpins this award.

The Student of the Year Award is given to a student who not only achieves outstanding academic results but also demonstrates a genuine passion for the industry, conducts him or her self professionally and is an active, happy member of the student body.

Runners up for this award may result in a Highly Commended Award and all students have the opportunity to vote for a Peer Student for each of the three years.

Awards for the college

2004 NSW Small Provider of the Year Award
The college has received the NSW Small Provider of the Year Award in 2004 – awarded for excellence in education and vocational education and training.

Nominated for 2007 Best Restaurant in a Training Institute
William Blue's excellence in the area of food and beverage production and service has again been recognised with the nomination of its training restaurant, Billy Blue Brasserie, for Best Restaurant in a Training Institute at the forthcoming Restaurant & Catering Association NSW Metropolitan awards.

This is an award that the Billy Blue Brasserie won when last nominated in 2004, and again reflects the hard work and professionalism of the whole food and beverage team.
